Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Who runs Operation Sudan?
A: Elysa Montfort and Laura Thompson. Contact them
here.
Q: Where are the donations to Operation Sudan going?
A: 100% of all donations are going straight to
Doctors Without Borders to aid their doctors and volunteers in
Sudan with funding for food, shelter, water, and medicine.
Q: What do the people in Sudan need?
A: The people of Sudan need food, water, medicine, and
shelter. The money you donate will go directly towards funding these
materials. But even more than anything tangible, they need their
story told. They need us to be informed and involved so that their
message, their struggle, does not go unnoticed.
Q: Are the donations tax deductible?
A: Yes.
Q: Can I get a refund on my donation?
A: No. Please do not donate under the pretense that you can
get your money back.
Q: How do I know for sure that my donation is going straight
to Doctors Without Borders through Operation Sudan?
A: Doctors Without Borders is an extremely credible
organization, and if you have doubts we encourage you to
contact them. We also have an official letter for assurance that
Operation Sudan itself is credible, and that all donations are going
to the right place, which you can affirm
here. If you have any other questions regarding this topic, feel
free to contact a representative of
Doctors Without Borders or one of the
webmasters of Operation Sudan.
Q: Can I see the difference my donations are making to the
people of Sudan?
A: Doctors Without Borders will be sending us regular
updates, which we will post on the site. You can also see a
comprehensive list of costs for items on our
donations page. Here you can see exactly how your contributions
can help.
Q: Can I donate anything besides money? (Clothing, canned
goods, etc.)
A: Unfortunately, no. This is because it is much easier to
carry and exchange money than it is boxes of blankets, clothes, etc,
especially considering these items would have to be shipped
thousands of miles overseas to a country which isn't easily
accessed. Also, some of the things the refugees need aren't
available to the general public; ie, certain medicines. In short,
monetary donations are easier and more effective.
